This is the cover I posted up for feedback last week:
And this is the version I've produced in response to the feedback I've had:
Fonts are still completely negotiable, particularly for the title (I'm not actually happy with this one, I just wanted to get the new version of the art up). I've raised the background colour a bit, and added detail to the sand. I've also added a faint reflective effect to the glass which I'm not sure about. Please let me know what you think; is it any better? (This version is suffering from horrible jpeg compression artefacts. I hate jpeg.)
I like the switching of the author/title placement in the second cover. I didn't see this the first time around, but I have to say I really love the image.
ReplyDeleteI too like the switch of Author and Title (For some reason when I see the author on top I think they are a big deal, which as an author is a good thing.)
ReplyDeleteI really like the font your name is in but the title font is a little bit lacking, V1 is too similar to the Author font and V2 is too differant, somewhere in between is good. Like the back ground colour btw!
I agree with Aden & Dennis. I love the image (and I missed it last week too). I also agree that seeing the author's name on top in bigger letters indeed makes you seem like a big deal. I want to read the book judging from this image.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the feedback, guys - sounds like a definite step in the right direction. Will keep tweaking the fonts (let me know if you see one you think would suit ;D).
